The star joked that hospital staffers dubbed her "Batgirl" when she went to get rabies shots
Nothing says rock and roll quite like getting bitten by a bat on stage and continuing the performance. Just ask Taylor Momsen.
The 30-year-old singer was performing with her band, The Pretty Reckless, in Seville, Spain, on May 29 when a bat landed on her leg during a song, leading her to seek several rounds of rabies shots.
"So… ROCK AND ROLL MOMENT…in Sevilla Wednesday during ‘Witches Burn’ of all songs… a BAT 🦇 🦇 flew onto me and clung to my leg…in the moment I was performing and had no idea until the incredible crowd kept screaming and pointing,” she shared in an Instagram post on May 31.
Momsen mentioned that while the bat was “cute,” it did bite her, necessitating rabies shots over the next two weeks. "Thanks to all the staff at the hospital who dubbed me #batgirl after seeing it on the local news that morning…more footage to come…that’s one for the books!!!!” she added.
She also posted a video of the incident, along with close-up photos of the bat on her leg and clips from her hospital visit.
In the video, Momsen can be heard saying, “You guys are pointing at something and I don’t know what you're saying. There’s a f---ing flying bat on my leg right now. Can someone help me, please? Eeek!! I must really be a witch.”
Several crew members rushed to assist her on stage, and she reassured the crowd, “It’s alright, and the bat’s fine. He’s gonna be my new friend.”
Singer Natasha Bedingfield commented on the post, asking if the bite hurt. Momsen replied, “The bite? No. The shots? YES 🙏❤️”
Later, she posted another video providing more details about the incident.
“#BATGIRL Part 2 🦇🦇🦇⚡️⚡️⚡️ #ACDC #PWRUP Tour #WitchesBurn,” she captioned the second clip, showing her walking backstage, presumably before seeking medical care.
“I really don’t want a rabies shot, and he scared the s--- outta me, and he wanted to be my friend,” Momsen said of the bat in the video. “And all the fans kept trying to tell me, and they were like, pointing and I didn’t know what the f--- they were saying. I thought I’d like, lost a bracelet… tampon’s out? I don’t know, that’s happened before.”
One fan commented, “Luckiest bat ever! Flew away saying, ‘Thank God that wasn’t Ozzy!’ 😂”
Momsen and her band are currently in Spain, opening for AC/DC on their Power Up Tour, which runs through August.
The Pretty Reckless, launched by Momsen in 2009, released their fourth album, "Death by Rock and Roll," in 2021, followed by "Other Worlds" in 2022, an album featuring acoustic recordings, covers, and more.
In a May 2023 radio interview, Momsen mentioned that the band is hard at work on a new album. “We’ve already kind of started it,” she said. “We’ve gotten into a studio, we’ve stepped foot into a studio. So that’s saying something for us. I don’t know how long it’s gonna take. I have no dates for anyone or any more insight other than that. But we have walked into a studio and we are super, super excited.”
The Quran - Chapter An-Najm : 53
And ˹it was˺ He ˹Who˺ turned the cities ˹of Sodom and Gomorrah˺ upside down.
وَالْمُؤْتَفِكَةَ أَهْوَىٰ (And He destroyed the overturned towns also,... 53:53) The word Mu'tafikah literally means mu'talifah (joined together).
These were a few settlements adjacent to the city. Holy Prophet Lut (علیہ السلام) was sent to them.
Because of disobedience and commission of shameful and unspeakable sins, their cities [ of Sodom and Gomorrah ] were turned upside down by Jibra'il (علیہ السلام) .
