Chanel West Coast recently shared her preference for surgery over medication when it comes to weight loss.
The 35-year-old Ridiculousness alum appeared on PageSix’s Virtual Reali-Tea podcast, where she discussed why she chose liposuction instead of using Ozempic, a medication approved by the FDA for type 2 diabetes and popular for weight loss.
“I’m really cautious about medications and stuff,” Chanel explained. “I’ve heard that if you stop taking Ozempic, you could gain more weight back, and that’s definitely not what I want. I don’t want to be stuck taking something like that for the rest of my life.”
Chanel added, “For everyone Ozempic works for, more power to you. If it’s working for you and doesn’t affect your health, I’m happy for you.”
Chanel, whose real name is Chelsea Chanel Dudley, mentioned that although the surgery was tough, liposuction was the better choice for her. “Lipo’s like a one-time thing, and it’s over,” she said.
The TV personality sought help with her weight loss after giving birth to her daughter, Bowie Breeze, in November 2022 with boyfriend Dom Fenison.
“I’ve been skinny my whole life. I could eat Taco Bell and In ’N Out and stay skinny. But after having a baby, my body completely changed,” she shared. “I knew I had a show coming out, I was getting back into the spotlight, and working hard on my music again.”
She continued, “I tried to get back in shape naturally as fast as I could, but it wasn’t fast enough. My knees were killing me, and I needed to lose the weight faster.”
Chanel also wanted to be transparent about her decision to get liposuction, acknowledging that the process was rough and more challenging than her C-section.
“I wanted to be open about it and show people that, yes, I’m getting this procedure to help me get skinny faster. But it’s also a rough and challenging experience.”
