Jimmy Kimmel has provided an update on his son Billy's health following his recent surgery.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, published on Monday, July 8, the 56-year-old host of Jimmy Kimmel Live! shared how his 7-year-old son William "Billy" John is doing after undergoing his third open-heart surgery in May.
"Billy's doing great. He had open-heart surgery; you know he's got the scars and everything, but he's just mentally right back where he was which is crazy,” Kimmel said about his son, who was born in 2017 with congenital heart disease.
“Physically, you know, we're gonna have to be careful with him for a couple of months, but he's doing really well," he continued.
Kimmel marveled at the resilience of children, saying, “They're made of rubber. Everybody says that kids are so resilient, and the doctors actually explained it to me, which I don't know why it never occurred to me before, but it’s because they’re still growing.”
In May, Kimmel shared a photo of Billy smiling in a hospital bed on social media, announcing that Billy had successfully undergone his third open-heart surgery.
“This weekend, our boy Billy had his third (of three, we hope) open-heart surgery,” he wrote, calling the experience "humbling."
“We went into this with a lot of optimism and nearly as much fear and came out with a new valve inside a happy, healthy kid," Kimmel continued, expressing gratitude to the medical staff, strangers, family, and friends.
Kimmel also praised his wife Molly McNearney for her strength, saying, “Thank you to my wife Molly for being stronger than is reasonable for any mom to be, and Billy, you are the toughest (and funniest) 7-year-old we know.”
Kimmel and McNearney share Billy and their 9-year-old daughter Jane. Kimmel also has a 32-year-old daughter, Katie, and a 30-year-old son, Kevin, from his first marriage to Gina Maddy.
The Quran - Chapter Al-Mujadila : 02
Those of you who ˹sinfully˺ divorce their wives by comparing them to their mothers ˹should know that˺ their wives are in no way their mothers. None can be their mothers except those who gave birth to them. What they say is certainly detestable and false. Yet Allah is truly Ever-Pardoning, All-Forgiving.
