Jake Wesley Rogers has provided an update on his health to fans. On Thursday, August 15, the 27-year-old "Evergreen" artist announced that he will undergo surgery due to complications from Crohn's disease.
In an Instagram post, Rogers shared that he was currently in the hospital, awaiting surgery. "I've spent most of the last month in the hospital," he wrote, explaining that he would be undergoing surgery to repair a ruptured part of his intestine. The rupture occurred earlier in the week.
Rogers also revealed that he was diagnosed with Crohn's disease four years ago. "For the most part, it’s been in remission, but unfortunately, that changed this month," he added.
Despite the situation, Rogers expressed optimism. "I'm in good hands here and surrounded by love. I know I will be okay," he assured his followers. However, he also shared some difficult news, stating, "I'll be pausing all releases of new music temporarily as I will need to use this time to heal and get better. I love you all very much. Thank you for your hope and your hearts."
Crohn's disease is a type of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that causes inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract. According to "Health", the disease affects around half a million people in the United States. It is often triggered by an overactive immune system, which mistakenly attacks harmless bacteria as if they were harmful pathogens. Symptoms of Crohn's disease can include abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, weight loss, anemia, skin issues, and arthritis. If not treated, the condition can become life-threatening.
Rogers is not alone in his experience with Crohn's disease. Other celebrities, like Pete Davidson and "Abbott Elementary" star Tyler James Williams, have also opened up about their battles with the illness. Williams, 31, shared in a January 2023 interview with "Men’s Health" that he wasn't diagnosed until his early 20s. He explained how his body was pushed to its limits, leading to a breakdown in his health. A visit to a gastroenterologist at NYU Langone confirmed his diagnosis.
Davidson, now 30, revealed in a 2016 interview with "High Times" that he was diagnosed with Crohn's disease around the age of 17 or 18. He mentioned that medical marijuana helped alleviate his symptoms, allowing him to eat and perform despite the pain.
The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation recommends that individuals with Crohn's disease get a colonoscopy every 1-3 years to screen for colorectal cancer.
The Quran - Chapter At-Talaq : 07
Let the man of wealth provide according to his means. As for the one with limited resources, let him provide according to whatever Allah has given him. Allah does not require of any soul beyond what He has given it. After hardship, Allah will bring about ease.
