Elle Macpherson is courageously sharing her experience with breast cancer for the first time.

In her new self-titled book, "Elle", the 60-year-old Australian supermodel reflects on the breast cancer diagnosis she received seven years ago, discussing the impact it had on her life.

“It was a shock; it was unexpected, confusing, and overwhelming in so many ways,” Macpherson, who is currently in remission, revealed to "Australian Women's Weekly".

She went on to explain that her doctor informed her, following a lumpectomy, that she had HER2-positive estrogen-receptive intraductal carcinoma, a specific type of breast cancer. The medical advice was to proceed with aggressive treatments, including a mastectomy and chemotherapy.

However, despite the initial fear, Macpherson viewed her diagnosis as "an opportunity... to find a solution that resonated with me." She chose a more "holistic approach," avoiding chemotherapy and pharmaceuticals altogether.

"I realized I needed to rely on my own truth, my belief system, to navigate this journey," she told the magazine. “It became a profound exercise in self-trust, in having faith in my body's wisdom, and in the path I chose to take.”

In her book, Macpherson delves into her treatment choices, writing, "I came to understand that there are no certainties, no absolute guarantees. There wasn’t one ‘right’ way—only what was right for me."

She continues, "Saying no to conventional medical treatments was the hardest decision I’ve ever made. Many people thought I was out of my mind, but I knew I had to make a choice that felt authentic to me. For me, that meant tackling both the emotional and physical dimensions of breast cancer… and that required immense courage."

Further into the book, Macpherson reflects on the varied reactions from those around her, including her sons Flynn, 26, and Cy, 21. However, she notes that her family, on the whole, was “extremely supportive.”

Now in clinical remission, Macpherson declares, “I am in complete wellness. Truly, from every perspective—every blood test, every scan, every imaging test. But also, emotionally, spiritually, and mentally—not just physically,” she shared with "Australian Women's Weekly".

Macpherson had previously experienced a cancer scare in 2013 when she discovered a benign lump in her breast on her 49th birthday. "I was fortunate—it was a fibroadenoma, but it was a wake-up call," she told the "Mail on Sunday". "I realized I might have been neglecting my body, taking the wrong supplements, and not nourishing myself properly."

This experience led her to connect with Dr. Simoné Laubscher, a nutritionist and wellness expert specializing in hormone rebalancing, cancer, and overall well-being. Together, they founded WelleCo, a luxury wellness brand focused on a one-stop vitamin and mineral solution. Macpherson launched the WelleCo flagship store in March 2016.

In 2015, while discussing her philosophy on wellness, Macpherson stated, "As I've gotten older, I've come to understand that it doesn't matter what I look like—what truly matters is how I feel. I started prioritizing sleep, relaxing more, and focusing on nutrition, realizing that good nutrition changes everything. I hadn’t realized just how deprived my body had been of essential nutrients."

"Elle by Elle Macpherson" is set to be released on September 3.
