She's set to star in season eight of British drama series Grantchester, after joining the ITV show during its previous season.

And Charlotte Ritchie got stuck into filming on Friday as she was snapped on set with a baby bump, with it appearing that a new arrival is on the cards for her character.

The actress, 33, who plays Bonnie in the drama, filmed scenes alongside her on-screen husband Reverend Will Davenport, played by Tom Brittney.

The Call The Midwife star donned a red two-piece as she was spotted filming on the show's Cambridgeshire set, consisting of a midi skirt and a matching blouse.

Placing a supportive hand on the character's expecting bump, Charlotte's blonde tresses were styled in a vintage curl as they fell to her jaw.

She walked alongside co-star Will for the outdoor scenes, who was clad in his character's vicar ensemble.

The on-screen married couple appeared in high spirits for the filming, giggling amongst themselves as filming crew circled around.

Tessa Peake-Jones was also seen filming with the pair as she was sported a floral ensemble to reprise her role as Mrs C.

And as they filmed some other scenes, Charlotte donned a tartan dress while fronting a solo frame - before changing into a navy outfit.

The cast could also be seen pushing a pram for later scenes, begging the question of which new arrival it was.

Charlotte joined the show during its previous season as widow Bonnie, who is a single mum to a little boy.

And after a growing love story between Bonnie and the town's vicar Will, the season finale saw the pair tie the knot in a surprise ceremony - after Will realised he loved Bonnie during a near-death experience.

The wedding came as a shock to fans, with actor Tom admitting it was difficult to keep the on-screen nuptials a secret.

He previously told TV insider: 'We had a fake bride, and between scenes, I would put on my cassock, so it looked like I was just officiating another person's wedding.

Continuing: 'Then we would sneak Charlotte into the church, away from the photographers who come to take photos of us while we shoot. We had as much secrecy as Marvel.'

Filming for the eight series of the show began just four weeks ago, with stars such as Kacey Ainsworth also reprising their roles.

And despite character Will finally getting his happy ending with Bonnie, the reverand and his detective buddy, Geordie Keating, won't have an easy ride in the new episodes - e, according to the synopsis for the new series.

ITV's synopsis reads: 'Will is the happiest he's ever been but his world will be rocked by a terrible accident. He's always preached the word of a compassionate God – but how can he now, when his despair leads him on a dangerous downward spiral?

'Geordie has found a new contentment in his relationship with Cathy, but when they are both confronted with shocking announcements at work their happiness is threatened.

'As Mrs C, Leonard, Jack and Daniel rally around, both Will and Geordie find themselves in unfamiliar, emotional waters and murder is always around the corner.'

While there is no official release date as of yet, fans can expect to see the new series sometime in 2023.
