Taylor Tomlinson is joining the late night lineup.
On Wednesday, Stephen Colbert announced during The Late Show with Stephen Colbert that Tomlinson, 29, will host CBS’ After Midnight.
Tomlinson’s hosting gig will start in early 2024 and will air during the 12:37 a.m. ET/PT time slot, the former home of The Late Late Show with James Corden.
After Midnight is based on Comedy Central’s @midnight which previously followed The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. Colbert is an executive producer on the revival from CBS Studios, Funny or Die and Spartina Industries.
Tomlinson’s announcement was made after Colbert informed his audience that there would be a new late night show joining the CBS lineup. Tomlinson chimed in and offered her talents to host. After the two joked around, Colbert called her onto the stage and introduced her.
Once she joined Colbert at his desk, she confessed how excited she is for the new job.
“I’ve never had a real job,” Tomlinson joked. “No I’ve been doing stand-up since I was 16, which is not a job.”
“So like this has been a really fun couple of months like I was on TikTok searching like how to nail a job interview — TikTok is Google for children,” Tomlinson continued. “How do you impress your maybe boss?”
As for her new boss, Colbert said, “As it turns out, the best part of having one of these jobs is being able to find and hire really good people.”
“We are thrilled to be reunited with our friends at Funny Or Die. My hope is that, every night, After Midnight will be just as ridiculous as the internet is every day,” Colbert said in a press release. “Plus, the original @midnight aired after The Colbert Report, so welcoming this new show to 12:30 feels like coming home.”
During their discussion, Tomlinson revealed her 30th birthday is this week. Colbert wished her a happy birthday, adding, “I got you a network show.”
Tomlinson made waves with her Quarter-Life Crisis standup special, which debuted on Netflix in 2020. She released another special, Look At You, last year, and performed sell-out shows on her national Have It All tour.
After Midnight will air on CBS and be available to stream on Paramount+ in early 2024.
