Howie Mandel recently recounted a terrifying incident involving his wife, Terry Mandel, during their trip to Las Vegas in February. Speaking on the June 17 episode of "Live with Kelly and Mark," the 68-year-old "America's Got Talent" judge described the night when his wife ended up in the hospital after a fall.
"We partied too much that night. She was tipsy, which I didn't realize," Mandel told hosts Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos. "In the middle of the night, she got up, possibly disoriented, and walked straight into the wall. She hit the wainscoting, fell, and broke her cheek."
Mandel shared a graphic image showing his wife with a two-inch cut on her forehead and a dark purple bruise around her eye. He described his immediate reaction upon seeing her injury. "Blood was pooling out, and I freaked out. I picked her up, put her on the bed, and there was blood everywhere. I could see her skull through the wound, and it made me panic."
Instead of calling 911, the hotel staff sent 10 security guards to their room. Mandel joked about the scene, "When security arrived and saw all the blood, it didn’t look good for me. It looked like a crime scene!"
Consuelos teased Mandel, "It’s a crime scene!" to which Mandel humorously responded, "If anyone were to get beat up, it would be me. I am the most annoying person in the world. My wife is a saint."
Terry was taken to the hospital and has since made a full recovery. "She is absolutely perfect. There's not a scar. She's beautiful," Mandel said, showing a recent photo of the couple with her fully healed.
When people ask what happened, Mandel quipped, "She just says, 'Vegas.'"
