Chrissy Teigen unintentionally sparked speculation about her absence from the 2024 Met Gala.
The TV personality and cookbook author shared an Instagram Stories post on May 6, featuring herself wearing a neck brace with the caption " @ the MET!" Coincidentally, this was the same day as the annual fashion event, prompting concern and messages of support from friends and fans.
In response to the flood of inquiries, the 38-year-old Teigen posted multiple selfies in the brace to her Stories, aiming to clarify the situation and explain why she wasn't present at the New York City gala.
"Oh, my God. I’m fine. I’m OK,” Chrissy Teigen reassured her followers in a video clip, clarifying that her injuries were not as severe as initially feared.
“It’s a CVS neck brace,” she continued. “And I just can’t rotate my neck ‘cause I tried to do a headstand and it didn’t go well. That’s all.”
Teigen added, “There’s no story, I promise."
In another video, the Chrissy & Dave Dine Out star emphasized that her absence from this year’s Met Gala, themed "Sleeping Beauties," was unrelated to her injury.
“This is not why I’m not at the Met,” she stated. “I was never going to the Met this year. Please.”
She then expressed regret, calling herself "so stupid for having made this a thing," and apologized for causing worry.
The last Met Gala Chrissy Teigen attended was in 2017, where she dazzled in a feathery, sheer gown alongside her husband John Legend, who complemented her monochrome look in a white tuxedo.
Although they haven't graced fashion's biggest night in a few years, the couple, who share four children (daughters Luna, 8, and Esti, 15 months, and sons Miles, 5, and Wren, 10 months), continue to have plenty of fashionable moments together.
On May 2, the couple enjoyed a glamorous date night at a different New York City event: the inaugural King’s Trust Global Gala at Cipriani South Street.
For the gala, Chrissy Teigen exuded Met Gala glamour in a sleeveless, shimmery gown featuring a plunging neckline, tiered skirt, and lacy bodice. Meanwhile, John Legend, 45, looked dapper in a classic black-and-white tuxedo.
The Quran - Chapter Al-Fath : 25
They are the ones who persisted in disbelief and hindered you from the Sacred Mosque, preventing the sacrificial animals from reaching their destination.1 ˹We would have let you march through Mecca,˺ had there not been believing men and women, unknown to you. You might have trampled them underfoot, incurring guilt for ˹what you did to˺ them unknowingly. That was so Allah may admit into His mercy whoever He wills.2 Had those ˹unknown˺ believers stood apart, We would have certainly inflicted a painful punishment on the disbelievers.
The chieftains of the Quraysh had made themselves liable to be punished and engaged in battle. But in view of a greater and more important consideration, they were not fought against and instead of that a truce was reached with them.
At that time there were among the Quraysh people who had in their heart of hearts given up polytheism and had faith in the oneness of God, or there were people who, because of their piety and righteousness, were likely to embrace Islam as soon as conditions normalised.
If Almighty God did not cause a battle to be fought between the two sides, it was so that the aforesaid people might become believers and play their Islamic role in the world and receive God’s rewards in the Hereafter.
In the eyes of God, the importance of dawah work is greater than any other consideration.
