Jennie Garth, best known for her role on "Beverly Hills, 90210", recently shared her ongoing battle with the physical and mental challenges of menopause, even taking her workout routines to the next level by using her daughter as added weight during a gym session.
At 52, Garth took to Instagram on August 15 to document a strenuous workout with her 21-year-old daughter, Lola. In the post, she acknowledged that the workout was tough, but emphasized the importance of staying connected to her body's strength and needs.
"I still struggled in similar ways to last week, but constantly reminding myself of my [body’s] power & needs made it easier," she captioned the video montage, which featured clips of her and Lola pushing through an intense session.
During the workout, Garth jokingly expressed her frustration to her trainer, Jason Cohen of Jason Alive Fitness, saying, "I hate you!" She later reflected on the experience in her caption, explaining that working out is "as much a mental battle as it is physical," referencing a previous post where she opened up about how menopause has affected her motivation.
In that earlier post, Garth was candid about her recent struggles with exercise. "I’ve been struggling with working out recently. My travel and work schedule, my body pain, and menopause—it’s a daily minefield, both physically & mentally," she admitted.
Despite these challenges, Garth emphasized the importance of forcing herself to stay active. "I know I’ll always feel better from doing it. But recently, it just feels like my body is fighting against me at times," she shared.
In her latest update, the "I Choose Me" podcaster expressed gratitude to her followers for their support and advice. "Thank you for all your comments & advice on my last workout… so many of us feel the exact same when it comes to menopause. Let’s keep the conversation up, ladies. ❤️," she encouraged.
Garth also highlighted the joy of working out with her daughter, noting that they push each other and start their days off strong together. "It’s so much fun working out with Lola," she wrote. "We push each other hard & it’s an amazing way to start our day together!"
As usual, Garth was engaged with her followers, responding to their comments and questions. When one person asked about how she manages sore muscles, Garth replied, "Stretch, stretch & STRETCH!! It’s one of the most beneficial things you can do for preventing & healing muscles. ❤️"
Another follower praised her determination, writing, "Your drive is empowering!!!!!" to which Garth responded, "That means so much! It’s so hard to stay motivated at times!!"
One fan admired her commitment, saying, "I love seeing women my age do this! Way to go Jennie 💪🔥❤️" Garth replied with an encouraging message: "No age limit on taking care of yourself ❤️."
And despite her mid-workout frustrations with her trainer, Garth ended her post by thanking him for his support.
The Quran - Chapter At-Talaq : 11
˹and sent˺ a messenger reciting to you Allah’s revelations, making things clear so that He may bring those who believe and do good out of darkness and into light. And whoever believes in Allah and does good will be admitted by Him into Gardens under which rivers flow, to stay there for ever and ever. Allah will have indeed granted them an excellent provision.
