On Monday, the 42-year-old reality personality made her debut at fashion's biggest night — and she stepped out of her comfort zone for the occasion.
Hilton and Marc Jacobs worked together to create a leather mermaid gown with a rhinestone bustier and gloved sleeves.
The glitter, however, did not stop with the outfit. A rosette choker necklace and glittery platform heels added brightness to an otherwise sombre ensemble.
"I thought it would be interesting and exciting to see her in a black gown because it's not typical for Paris," Jacobs said on the red carpet to Vogue. He also stated that she was "all game" for the attire, despite the fact that it was a departure from her typical colourful wardrobe.
The morning of her big red-carpet announcement, the book author and new mum shared with followers how she prepared. Her first stop of the day appeared to be a visit to Flávia Lanini, who appeared to have assisted her in being "snatched for the Met" with a lymphatic massage.
Just one day before the event, Hilton confirmed her attendance with photos of herself with the late fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, to whom this year's theme, "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty," is dedicated.
"Karl has always been a fashion icon for me." Such an icon and trailblazer. "I love that he is this year's #MetGala theme," she posted on Instagram.
"Karl and I hung out in Paris a couple of times, and he was always such an inspiration to me, and we had so much fun and made so many memories." "In so many ways, I've always looked up to him, and I love that we're honouring him tonight," she later told Vogue.
This year's exhibit will include approximately 150 outfits throughout Lagerfeld's 60-year career, which included stints at Balmain, Patou, Chloé, Fendi, Chanel, and his own namesake label.
Hilton's night out comes only months after her and husband Carter Reum welcomed their son Phoenix Barron Hilton Reum through surrogate in January.
