Several 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way couples hit make-or-break moments on Monday night’s episode.
Relationships hung in the balance as one couple walked down the aisle to wed and another contemplated a future apart if they couldn’t agree on how to split the housework. And it wouldn’t be a TLC show without some heated and unhelpful opinions from family!
From sleeping on a bench in the town square to exploring intimacy in the bedroom for the first time, here’s what the couples got up to this week.
Kimberly and TJ
Kimberly and TJ’s wedding was officially on!
Monday’s installment showed the first part of their extravagant Indian wedding. But it wasn’t all bridal bliss for Kimberly, who woke up with a nervous stomach and literally “s — my pants” before arriving at her mehndi ceremony. Naturally she had trouble keeping a smile on her face — and naturally some family members couldn’t resist pointing out her less-than-jubilant expression.
“I don’t want to be a bitch of a bride right now, and I really do appreciate these rituals we’re doing, but I’m not feeling well, my stomach is still upset, and I feel so lonely,” she said in an interview. “It’s not really the feeling I thought I would have on my wedding day.”
Later in the episode, things were looking up, and Kimberly even tested some dance moves out on stage with TJ as their family and friends performed for them. Though Kimberly wasn’t too swift on her feet, that didn’t change TJ’s opinion of her. “I will say she’s a little clumsy, but she enjoys her moves, which is really awkward moves. I would say it’s really never in the dictionary of dance.”
One other thing that didn’t change his opinion — Kimberly refused to sit on his mother’s lap, a tradition in Indian weddings.
Mary and Brandan
Mary and Brandan’s relationship has been going downhill — and fast. Monday episode featured more blowout arguments between the soon-to-be parents, which led Brandan to flee their home and take refuge in the town square. “I just had to escape that environment,” he said after the production crew located him. “I thought we were gonna get married and have a family and all this stuff. Instead, Mary and I are fighting more and more.”
The incessant fighting was taking a toll beyond just Brandan and Mary — the family’s reputation was plummeting in town, not only because of Mary’s pregnancy out of wedlock, but also because of the tense arguments all the neighbors could hear. In an effort to save their relationship, Mary and Brandan spoke with Mary’s grandfather about their fighting. Instead of comfort, he served up a bitter dose of reality.
“When I found out that Mary is pregnant before marriage, I was hurt,” he said (translated to English) in an interview. “But now she’s pregnant and they’re fighting. Chaotic!”
Mary’s grandfather held nothing back when talking to his granddaughter. “You’re pregnant and now he has this habit to walk away after you fight,” he said. “We’re disgracing ourselves to our neighbors. People are talking about us behind our backs. What will happen to your life if this is going to continue? Your child?”
Brandan and Mary still couldn’t manage to stabilize, leading him to wonder, “Would it be better if I just go back to America then?” Mary coldly, unexpectedly responded, “Maybe — because you can’t change your attitude.”
In a confessional interview, Mary revealed she was serious about Brandan going home. “If Brandan won’t change and be a better person, like really man enough to be a father, maybe he should leave,” she said, “because I don’t want our baby to suffer with all those problems.”
Holly and Wayne
Last week, Holly and Wayne officially tied the knot, which meant their Jehovah’s Witness pact not to be intimate before marriage was lifted. This week, all viewers saw of Holly and Wayne was in the bedroom as the couple recounted their first night as a married couple. Wayne asked Holly if he’s a “sex god” like she’d hoped, and the American woman was all giggles.
Though bashful while laying in the arms of her husband, Holly opened up about the intensity of their sexual relationship when she sat down for a confessional interview. “I feel like we have a closeness now that we didn’t before,” she shared. And she wasn’t disappointed — or intimidated — by Wayne’s moves and bedroom preferences, noting that her new husband was “kinky. He’s into bondage, he’s into weird stuff. He’s not vanilla in the bedroom, so I was glad about that.”
Though things were going well in the bedroom, Holly was starting to worry about being alone in South Africa after her mother’s scheduled return to the U.S. With Wayne working, and a recent home invasions in which one of Wayne’s dogs had been killed, Holly began to stress.
“I don’t know how long it will take me to get settled,” she said. “I still don’t feel safe. It’s scary for me.”
Daniele and Yohan
There was still major turmoil in Daniele and Yohan ‘s relationship, most of it related to their finances. Yohan remained insistent on moving to America — if not, he demanded that Daniele fund their life in the Dominican Republic.
Yohan was fixated on Daniele buying a nearby home to turn into a rental property, but Daniele thought the $100 a month in income did not stack up to the tens of thousands of dollars she’d have to shell out up front. While Yohan thought it was time he had something to show for the money he and Daniele had been spending, she accused him of wanting to “own something to own something” and put her foot down: “I am not funding your flex.”
Daniele was starting to see red flags all around. “I never thought he had this in him. Not wanting to contribute — not wanting to be an equal partner, unishing me because I can’t have a child,” she said in an interview. “[If] any one of those individual things ever happened in one of my friend’s relationships, I would be like, ‘Get the f — — out.’”
To make her point, Daniele decided to refrain from speaking Spanish — her and her husband’s only shared language. The reason she gave Yohan? “You don’t deserve anything from me.”
