90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way left nearly every couple with questions on Monday night.
From a new baby and a canceled wedding to a “sex bomb” questioning her lover’s bed, there was no shortage of shock when the Americans finally settled into their new lives.
One of the more notable surprises came when TJ broke up with Kimberly just days before their wedding — and just hours after meeting her parents. But that was nothing compared to the latest 90 Day Fiancé pregnancy, which is certain to cause a range of reactions from viewers.
Here’s what you missed on Monday night’s episode — and where it leaves each couple.
Brandan & Mary
Brandan and Mary revealed they were expecting!
The couple — who is not married and had previously vowed to stay celibate out of respect of Mary’s grandparents — broke tradition by trying for a baby. And it didn’t take long before Mary tested positive. Through a bout of morning sickness, the couple told cameras how overjoyed they were to have a bundle of joy on the way just three months after Brandan moved to the Philippines to start his life with Mary.
“I’m happy because I’m having a baby fever. So that’s why I’m being crazy and I really want a baby, right,” Mary explained. “I know we were trying, but it’s different when you’re trying compared to like, when it actually happens and you’re like, ‘OK, hold on.’ Like, I thought it would take longer.”
Mary also detailed why she decided to lose her virginity before marriage in spite of her family’s conservative beliefs. “Brandon is here now in person, and I really love him and I feel ready to give my all to him,” she said. “You know, we’re humans.”
Brandan said he was immediately confident about fatherhood when they decided to start trying. That said, he did admit in a confessional interview that his perspective had shifted a bit since Mary actually became pregnant.
“I felt really confident and I felt like I was ready to have a baby. But now that it’s actually happening, I’m thinking to myself, like, where did my confidence come from?” he said. “I’m starting to have doubts. I just really hope that we can handle everything that’s on our plate.”
Shekinah & Sarper
Sarper showed off his romantic side when picked up Shekinah at the airport. With a bouquet of flowers in hand, the Turkish man recounted his days as a playboy and expressed personal shock that he’d left all that behind. But true love with his “sex bomb” that made him step into commitment — even more than her physical appearance, he loved that Shekinah was “soft on the inside.”
The couple finally reunited at the airport and shared plenty of PDA. Shekinah and Sarper’s lips seemed magnetic as they kissed the whole way to the car and the whole way home. But Sarper’s bedroom dampened the mood when Shekinah was shocked at the state of his banged-up headboard — and remembered his bed has hosted many, many women before their romance.
She opted to sleep on the couch until they could replace the mattress. “About a month before I moved to Turkey, Sarper told me that he had been with about 2,500 women, and I thought it was a typo,” Shekinah said. “I’d never even heard of anyone being with half that many people. I just really hate the mental image of wondering what caused the headboard to look the way that it does.”
Shekinah concluded, “If he wants to sleep in his gross bed, he can do that. Or he can join me on the couch. I don’t care. But all I know is I’m not sleeping in that bed, and we have to get a new one as soon as possible.”
Holly & Wayne
Holly’s wedding was just a day away when she sat down for a heart to heart with Wayne’s sister. Though Holly was being a trouper with just her mom in South Africa for her nuptials, the soon-to-be sister-in-law was considerate of Holly’s underlying emotions.
“When you get married, you’re supposed to have your closest friends and family with you. So I think it’s very hard for her being here just with her mom,” she said. “So we have to really go out of our way to make it extra special for her.”
For her wedding with 15 guests, Holly’s bouquets, cake and dress weren’t ready — and she had less than 24 hours to pull it all together.
Kimberly & TJ
It seemed like Kimberly and TJ were over as of Monday’s episode.
Things started smoothly enough when TJ met Kimberly’s parents over dinner. But the meal soured quickly when Kimberly challenged him and asked intrusive questions at the dining table. This put a bad taste in TJ’s mouth and made him question their entire engagement.
Later that night, Kimberly texted a stream of insecurities to TJ about how the night went. He responded with an apparent breakup text. “He sent this long message saying how he can’t do this anymore and he needs to cut off his existence,” Kimberly said. “In my life, I’ve given up everything and it’s never once wavered in my mind that he’s the man I want to marry. And he breaks up with me at two in the morning.”
Kimberly woke up in tears the next morning before calling TJ to go over what really happened. She tried to fight for their relationship, telling him, “I’m really broken inside because of that. TJ I won’t be happy without you.”
TJ didn’t seem willing to give things another go. “You have two minds at the same time. You wanna love me or you sometimes you wanna do the things in your way,” he replied.
With their wedding days away, the couple’s future together hung in the balance.
Daniele & Yohan
Immigration has always been a point of tension for Yohan and Daniele. Daniele said from the start that said she wanted to live in the Dominican Republic, but Yohan was looking toward his business prospects in America.
While meeting with an immigration lawyer, Daniele made her mind up on sponsoring Yohan — but only for a tourist visa that would allow him to visit but not work. Daniele’s argument was that Yohan shouldn’t want to move anywhere before visiting. She added, “For right now, I feel like it makes more sense to apply for the tourist visa because I think applying for a green card requires an unbelievable amount of commitment and trust from the both of us, and I don’t feel like we are at a place in our relationship where we really have that 100 percent right now.”
Yohan took the decision personally. “I think she’s wrong because the tourist visa is not enough,” Yohan said in Spanish. “I’m in my country, I have nothing, and she doesn’t want me going to her country to work and build my life, so I think that’s selfish on her part.”
